This site is about paying attention to how technology treats us, so it tries to practise what it preaches: minimal data, no tricks, plain language.
What I collect. If you subscribe to the newsletter, your email address. If you use the contact form or email me, whatever you choose to send. That's the extent of what you actively give me.
What the platform collects. This site is built on Wix, which uses cookies and collects standard technical data (such as IP address, browser type and pages visited) to make the site function and to provide me with basic, aggregated visitor statistics.
Wix processes this data on servers that may be located outside South Africa and the EU. You can manage cookies through the banner or your browser settings. I don't run advertising, tracking pixels, or sell data to anyone and I never will.
Claims like that are usually where the fine print starts; here there is no fine print.
What I use it for. The newsletter address is used to send you the newsletter, nothing else. Contact details are used to reply to you. Statistics are used to understand which research notes people find useful.
Your rights. Under South Africa's POPIA and, where applicable, the EU's GDPR, you can ask what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it.
Unsubscribing from the newsletter takes one click and requires no explanation. For anything else, email anna@ annacollard.com and I'll respond within a reasonable time, usually days, not statutory maximums.
